I REMEMBER IT WELL

(Be Still My Heart)

Vera: We met at eight.

Ray: I was on time.

Vera: No, you were late.

Ray: Ah, yes! I remember it well.

Ray: We dined with friends.

Vera: We dined alone.

Ray: A tenor sang.

Vera: A bariton.

Ray: Ah, yes! I remember it well.

Ray: That dazzling April moon.

Vera: There was none that night. And the month was June.

Ray: Thatīs right! Thatīs right!

Vera: It warms my heart to know that you remember still the way you do.

Ray: Ah, yes! I remember it well.

Ray: That carriage ride.

Vera: You walked me home.

Ray: You lost a glove.

Vera: I lost a comb.

Ray: Ah, yes! I remember it well.

Ray: That brilliant sky.

Vera: We had some rain.

Ray: Those Russian songs.

Vera: From sunny Spain?

Ray: Ah, yes! I remember it well. You wore a gown of gold.

Vera: I was all in blue.

Ray: Yes, Iīm getting old.

Vera: Oh, no! Not you! How great you were, so young and gay. A gentleman in every way.

Ray: Ah, yes! I remember it well.

Vera: And to think I thought you would forget!

Ray: I remember it well!
